" MANCHESTER SCHEME. i c LONDON, August 26. * Owing to their visit to Australia, and New Zealand, tbe Duke and Duchess of York will be unable to attend the textile exhibition during Civic Week. Consequently the city has offered to • present the Duchess with fabrics to be worn at the opening of Parliament at Canberra. Their Royal Highnesses have a replied that they will gladly accept the . gift.. t It is suggested that each exhibitor | should submit one fabric, so that the 1 textile trade would be fully represented. - This would also give the Duchess a wide choice in her favourite colours.
