! LATEST CHANNEL SWIMMER. WILL TRY THE DOUBLE. LONDON, September 1. It is announced by Herr Vierkotter, the German who swam the English Channel in record time this week, that he will return next year and attempt to do better time! also that he will attempt to swim from France to Dover and back again. Vierkotter will bring with him his wife, who is also a swimmer, and he is to induce her to try and beat Miss Ederlie's time. The German is only 25 years of age. He won the championship of the Rhine by swimming 66 miles, with the tide, in I 10h 36m. He swims with a strong crawl stroke. His Channel performance has amazed the experts.— (A. and N.Z.)
