WELLINGTON AND AUCKLAND. INTERESTING- COMPARISONS. (By Telegraph—Own Corresponednt.) WELLINGTON, this day. The Customs revenues received this year at Wellington and Auckland respectively are running remarkably close to each other. For the oipht months of 19-26 onrled August 31, Wellington collected £1,t533,----314' and Auckland £1,G28.544. a difference of only £454.5 in favour of Wellinjrton. For tlie same eight months of 102.") the Customs revenue collected at Wellington was £1.595.955. and at Auckland £1,587.912, a difference in favour of Wellington of £11,076. Again, for the whole financial yeai, 1925-20, there was a difference of only £15,485 in the two collections, each being over f2.500,000, the figures being: Wellington £2,570.281, Auckland £2.506,706. But it was not so in tlie financial year 1924-25, when the northern city led by nearly £90.000—Auckland £2,324 7 30!>, Wellington 2.235.011. During the month of August just, closed, Wellington collected £235,654 16/2 Customs revenue and £4271 10/2 in beer duty. In August of last year the figures were £229,041 10/10 and, £3995 11/8 respectively.
During last August Auckland's collection was £243.711, the largest monthly collection at that port this year.
