SATAN REPROVES SIN.

GERMANY ON ENGLAND.

The "Daily Chronicle's" Berlin correspondent telegraphs extracts from an article from a London correspondent to a prominent German newspaper, wherein he describes the prevailing conditions in England as akin to those of Rome during the decline and fall. This German correspondent speaks of "effeminate youth" and "erotic literature," and he describes the dole queues as identical to the giving of grain and bread to the poor classes in the days of the Roman Empire. The English stage, he says, is exactly similar to that of the Romans during the decline. Out of ten plays, eight are concerned with sex.

The German journalist refers to "wild orgies and festivals of the Roman decline as simlar to those of England to-day." In the West End of London, he declares, there is a wild squandering of money; in the East End, misery, dirt, hovels and doles.

"Sport ruined the Romen Empire; it may also ruin the British Empire," he concludes.— (A. and N.Z.)
