OLYMPIAD FOR GIRLS. LONDON, August 29. In the women's Olympiad at Gothenburg, Sweden, the 250 metres flat race was won by Miss E. Edwards (England) in 33 4-ss, which is a world's record. The progress points for the meeting are as follow:—Britain, 15; France, 13; Sweden, 6; Japan, 5; Poland, 5. In the long jump, Miss Hitomi (Japan) jumped 5J metres, a world's record. The thousand metres walk was won by Miss D. Crossley (England) in •5m 10s, a world's record. The English airwoman, Mrs. Elliott Lynn, got fourth place in throwing the javelin.— (A. and X.Z.) WRESTLING IN MELBOURNE. (Received 10 a.m.) MELBOURNE, this day. Mike Yokel beat Sam Clapham at wrestling by one fall to none, in the eighth round.— (A. and K.Z.) RIFLE SHOOTING. (Received 11 a.m.) PERTH, this day. Shooting in the final stage of tha King's Prize resulted in a win for E. C. Gare, of Perth, with a total of 330) points. Gare also won the champioa aggregate with 474.— (A. and N.Z.) ATHLETICS IN VICTORIA. MELBOURNE, August 29. A seven miles walking championship was held yesterday in fine weather. The course was in excellent order. The event resulted as follows:—Sunderland (Victoria), 1; Osborne (Victoria), 2; Wyatt fSouth Australia), 3. Time, 55m 6 3-ss. Sunderland won by 140 yds. Wyatt was 20yds behind Osborne. Morse (Victoria) finished second, but he was disqualified for "lifting" in the last lap. Victoria won the teams race, with South Australia second. Osborne and Wyatt were in the first five throughout the event. Cabot, New Zealand, did not start.—(A. and N.Z.) BOXING IN SYDNEY. SYDNEY, August 29. At the Sydney Stadium last evening Frisco McGale defeated Fernand Rlampain on points in a 20-rounds bout. The Frenchman was outclassed throughout. He was severely punished. (A. and N.Z.) FOOTBALL IN FIJI. SUVA, August 20. The Auckland University Rugby football team won the second Test match against Fiji at Suva ye-tcrday by 10 points to '.\. Stone and Carter scored (wo splendid tries, which Jenkins converted. Fiji '•cored a penalty goal. It was a good. even game, but was in the visitors' favour throughout.
