PRISONER DIES.
ACCIDENT IN QUARRY. SUCCUMBS TO FRACTURED SKULL. The death occurred at the Auckland Hospital last evening of the prisoner, Joseph Crook, who was admitted on August 10 with a fracture of the skull. He had been engaged in coupling two stationary trucks in the quarry of the gaol at Mount Eden when one of them 'moved slightly and struck him on the head. The trucks were those used for the hauling of metal from the quarry.
An operation was performed upon Crook in the hospital, but his condition gradually became weaker. An inquest will be held at the gaol this afternoon before the coroner, Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M.
