NAVAL CUTTER RACE.
WON BY H.M.S. DUNEDIN. | The following telegram was this j morning received from Wellington by H.M.s. Philomel: "A naval cutter race was arranged and took place on Saturday between twelve-oared cutters of H.M.s. Dunedin. the Petone Old Naval | Club, and the Wellington Rowing Club, | with the following result: H.M.s. I Dunedin's racing cutter. 1: Petone Old j Naval Club. 2: Wellington Rowing Club. 3. A special boat was taken to Welling- i ton by ki.id permission of Lieutenant Wood. R.N.Y.R.. who is the scout com- | | tnissioner for Auckland, to allow tinwarship to compete on the same terms ias the rowing clubs. The race caused j i great interest, as the Petone Old Naval ' : Club had not been beaten for several j ! years." \
