WAIPOUA FOREST.
(To the Editor.l Sir—l take this opportunity of congratulating you on the very excellent and solid articles appearing in the "Mar against the Governments proposed road through the Waipoua Forest. If h's a road they want to link up Hobson aud Hokiauga. then it certainly should go along the open coast route las advocated by you), and which would be so easily and'economically constructed, compared with the bush route. Of course, if it's the forest they want to get at. then they .should say so, and not make believe it's only a -road they want. A forest road, apart from the likely destruction of the forest by fire, would take very many years to consolidate, to say nothing of the enormous cost of a road through rough bush country compnred with the open coastline. —i am, etc., FRED. ANDREWES.
