OTAHUHU BOROUGH COUNCIL.

The Otahuhu Borough Council met on Thursday, the Mayor, Mr. K. B. Todd, presiding. Brady Road.—Messrs. Kennell and Bye waited on the council and asked for the formation of that part of Brady Road leading to their properties, offering to pay £20 each towards the cost if the work could be put In hand. The matter was referred to the Works Committee for a report. Subdivisions. —Subdivlsional plans of Messrs. 11. J. Ualls and J. N. McEvoy's properties were approved and the proposed new rond through Mr. Hall's property was classified as a first-class residential road. Exemption From Rates. —Messrs. Upton and Major, representing King's College, waited on the council and asked for exemption from rates of 20 acres used by the coliegc as a sports ground. The Town Clerk stated the exemption asked for would mean a reduction of £173 5/ In the college rates. It was decided to take no action in the matter. Hokonui Drainage.—Eight tenders were received for the work of draining the Hokonui Estate, and that of Messrs. Grinter Bros, being the lowest was accepted subject to check by the engineer. Grinter Bros.' price was £3458 8/11, the engineer's estimate being £4968 3/7. I'ratt Street.—lt was decided to form a path as far as Mr. Jones' property in Pratt Street. Right of Way.—Work in connection with a right of way from Nikau Road to Avenue Road as recommended by the foreman will entail an expenditure of £43 17/11. Water Main.—The foreman reported that Nikau Road is now in a very bad state in respect to water service. There are at the present time twenty houses being supplied with a J-inch pipe, which will also be required to carry the water carriage system of sewerase lrr that locality. He recommends 4-lnch Mannesnmnn pipes, which would cost approximately £300 for the 20 chains of work to be done. The council did not adopt the proposal.
