DEAF CHILDREN HEAR.
A successful experiment with a inlciophone snd head phones invented by Mr. J. L. Calvard, a Hull civil engineer, htf been made at the Hull Deaf and Dumb Institute, and over 80 per cent of tht deaf children were abie to hear music and speech for the first time in their lives. Th<apparatus resembles a wireless receivinf set, without aerial or earth connections. A gramophone selection was played, and the children showed their delight by beating time with their hands and swaying theii bodies In harmony with the music. Some of the children heard their own voices tor the tirst time.
