WOMAN UNCONSCIOUS IN ROWBOAT.
FOUND CLUTCHING A SHOE AND A METAL BOX. A dramatic discovery was made by a motor boat party in Bournemouth Bay.. About a mile from the pier they saw an apparently empty rowing boat with the oars sticking up. Sailing up to It, they found a middle-aged woman lying unconscious in the bottom of the boat. -Her face was sprinkled with a white powder resembling veronal. In one hand she clutched a small metal box and In the other a shoe. She was taken to hospital, where her condition was stated to be serious. It was afterwards discovered that she came from Bradford-on-Avon. She had been staying at a Bournemouth hotel for about ten days, and had booked her accommodation from a London club. She Is apparently in good circumstances. She hired a rowing boat, and took fishing tackle with her. She refused the offer of the boatman to accompany her. She had been out about two hours, when the boat owner became anxious, and sent out some men to see If she was all right. In the distance they saw her collapse in the craft but the motor boat was first to reach her and bring her ashore.
