THE N.Z. CONFERENCE. REFEREES TO ORGANISE. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) -'': NAPIER, Friday. ■ The annual conference of the New Zealand Boxing Association was held in 'Napier to-day, Mr. J. Vigor Brown presiding. Delegates were present from all ■parts of the Dominion. - In view of bad decisions having at times caused dissatisfaction, Mr. G. Hale (Christchurch) moved that a special meeting of judges and referees be held as a first step toward" forming a referees association. This was carried. * \ The following "resolution was unanimously carried: "That this meeting of representatives of the <New Zealand Boxing Association strongly supports the efforts'now being taken by the council 01 the association to assist in raising funds adequate representation of the Dominion at the next Olympic Games, fond pledges it-self to render all possible financial assistance when any concrete proposal'is forthcoming." The election of officers resulted: President, Mr.'S. A. Lindsay (Invercargill): vice-presidents, Messrs. F. J. Campbell '(Dunedin) and M. T«reston (Napier); appeal committee, Messrs. V. K.- Meredith, H. Mekenzie, and E. A. Craig (Auckland) ; council, Dr. P F. McEvedy (chairman), Messrs. D. R. Hoggard, J. R. Simpson, E. Blundell, E. A. Dawson, J. W. Heenan, and Colonel R. St. J. Beere. Mr. W. G. Talbot (Welington) moved: "(1) That it be a recommendation to the council that professional licenses be issued to professionals only for contests promoted by affiliated asociations, and. that all ' future licenses should clearly state that no professional should accept engagement without first ascertaining that the association under which he proposes to compete is duly affiliated under -the New;< Zealand Boxing Association rules, and .that such association is empowered under the, rules to promote professional contests such as he proposes to engage im. 'i "(2) Tfistkit be a recommendation to 'the council that future applications for affiliation 'by an association be only granted ei»bjeet to a proviso that no euch association shall promote any professional contest except at the discretion <»f the council." • Sir.
