AUCKLAND V. CANTERBURY. VISITORS ARRIVE TO-MORROW. The usual meeting of the Management Committee of the Auckland Rugby League was held last evening. Mr. \V. J. Hununili presiding, when a number of items of interest to the code were dealt with. The visit of the Canterbury team which is to play Auckland on Saturday, at Carlaw P»rk, for the Northern Cnlon Cup. was one of the main topics. The Canterbury League accepted the terms, which provided for 50 per cent of the net pate, and asked that Mr. W. Mint-ham should be appointed referee. The committee decided to forward the request on to the New Zealand Council. The Huntly Club wrote asking if a senior team from Auckland could be sent to Huntly to play a match on Saturday. • The letter pointed out that good progress was being made in re-establishing the code there Unfortunately the Management Committee could not, owing to the lateness of the request, arrange for a team to make the trip this week-end. Touching the Northern Union Cup challenge match between Auckland and South Auckland, it was decided to suggest to tbe South Auckland League September 9 or lt> as a suitable date. Permission was granted to the Northeote senior team to travel and play a match at Hamilton on Saturday. The appointment of referees in all future challenge matches was mentioned by Mr. E. Stallworthy, who reported that the New Zealand Council would in future appoint its own referees. The Leagues concerned would be requested to submit the names of three of their leading referees. and from these a Snnl appointment would be made The Junior Management Committee reported that arrangements had been made for the Hamilton juniors to play Richmond second-grade team at Carlaw I'ark on September 4. THE AUCKLAND TEAM. The selectors of the Auck:.ind representative team, Messrs. Asher. Fox. and McDonald, have been notilied that Townsend and Riley will not be available on Saturday. and Rayner and Campbell have been added to the number from whom the linal selection will he made this evening. The selectors are anxious that all players will be at Carlaw I'ark this evening for training. FIXTURES FOR SATURDAY.
