AUCKLAND ROTARY CLUB.
THE "WEEKLY MEETING.
The weekly lunch meeting of the Auckland Rotary Club, held to-day in the Unity Hall, was well attended, the president, Mr. W. Coltman, being in the chair.
Amongst the visitors were: Messrs. C. Ansel! and X. Carlton (Loii'don), F. M. Spencer and J. DawLon (Whangarei), W. Brasted (Wellington) and S. Robaon (Hamilton).
The speaker of the day was the Rev. Molyneux, Bishop of Melanesia, who spoke of life in the Melanesian Group. He expressed the view that planters, on the whole, were particularly good to the natives and the missionaries did what they could, but an urgent need was for much more medical assistance than was available at the present time. The condiminium was an unsatisfactory form of control for the New Hebrides, and he contended that the present was an opportune time /or New ZeaJand and Australian commercial interests to make themselves felt in the direction of securing sole British control. This would certainly he in the interests of. the natives. He urged that these islands were too close to us for New Zealanders to be indifferent as to their future.
