The raid wat arranged and carried out so quietly and efficaciously that few people in the vicinity were aware of anything unusual taking place.
Fines of £2 each were imposed at the Court this morning on 28 of the Chinese, and of £3 in the case of a twenty-ninth, who had been previously convicted.
Charges against one Chinese of keep, ing a common gaming house, and against two others of assisting therewith,, were adjourned for a week, £50 bail being allowed.
