RACING NEWS.

HUNT MEETING. i I BEAU CAVALIER WINS THE CUP. YORK ABBEY THE DUNEDIN. The annual meeting of the Pakuranga Hunt Club was held at Ellerslie on Saturday in beautiful weather. There was a good attendance, and some interesting racing was witnessed. The totalisator showed a decrease of £4707 10/, the sum put through being £51,308 10/, comared with £50,106 for the corresponding day last year; but on that occasion, it must be recollected, the American fleet was here. Surprise in Hunt Cup. Mangapiko, Cvi Bono and/Kirkwood were the scratchings for the Pakuranga Hunt Cup leaving a field of ten. Birkenose was over twice as well backed as Lupineel, while Pendavies was nearly as well supported as the latter. When they reached the stand double Advent was showing the way to Beau Cavalier. Bahadur, Dimlight and Brown Heath, while the favourite and Pendavies were last. Bahadur and Stonewall then cleared away and had a good break going up the hill and past the stands, at which latter point Birkenose, Advent. Beau Cavalier and Dimlight were their nearest attendants. Bahadur led into the back stretch in the final round and had a life at tbe fence by the sixfurlong post. At the top of the hill Bahadur fell and Stonewall led down the slope from Beau Cavalier, Birkenose, Hypothesis and Dimlight. Beau Cavalier led over the last fence and beat Stonewall by two lengths and a half. Birkenose was 120 yds away third, with Hypothesis fourth. Dimlight and Pendavies were the only other ones to finish. The winner returned a remunerative price. The cup was presented to the owner; Mr. A. G. Quartley, by the master, Mr. H. Bullock-Webster. Owner Completes a Double. The Auckland Handicap saw Quinvardia the public choice, but she was only entrusted with about £25 more than Lady Cintra, while Chamour and Nassock were selected as the next most likely. Chamour, Marble Mount, King Arch, Lady Cintra and Nassock were the leading division when half the journey had been covered. Chamour was the first to turn for home from Marble Mount, King Arch, Quinvardia, and Lady Cintra. Chamour stayed on muc. better than any of the others to score by three lengths from King Arch, .nother promising three-year-old. Plane Pearl was third, while Day i-iass, Marble Mount and Xassoek were next. This made the second success of the day for Mr. B. Goldwater, for he previously won the Jellicoe Handicap, with Lomint, a full sister to Chamour. A Popular Victory. Nine faced the barrier in the Ladies' Bracelet, and there was only about five pounds difference between Clockwork and Bizarro, while Edifice and Lupineel also had friends. Clockwork, Bizarro and Tulle led out of the straight and along the back the order was Clockwork, Bizarro, Edifice, Tulle, Syndicate, The I Drifter and Ulva's Isle. Edifice joined i Clockwork across the top and the pair led into the straight from Bizarro, Syndicate and The Drifter. Bizarro took charge at the distance and beat Clockwork by and a half. The Drifter was two lengths away, with Syndicate, Edifice, Ulva'e Isle and Lupineel next. Dr. Grant rode the winner, and he received a great reception on returning to spale.

The Concluding Event.

The meeting concluded with tlie Dunedin Handicap for which Le Choucaa, Archeen", Sleepy Sol and Koyal Picture were scratched. Phaola was about £30 better backed than York Abbey, while the bracket King Lv and Queen Arch were next fancied. Namutere and York Abbey showed out at the start, but t little later King Emerald and Letter of Credit ran to the front and led into the home stretch from Hoariri, Day Guard, and Clarus. York Abbey came through at the distance to beat Hoariri by a neck, with Clarus three-quarters of a length away. Master Doon, Gala Day and King En.erald were next to finish.
