GREAT FEAR IN PEKING. PROPRIETORS IN HIDING. PEKING, August 12. Following the recent shooting of thi editor of a Chinese paper, who wai alleged to have written something derogatory to the Governor of Shan tung, Chang Tsuug-cliang, great fear pre vails hi the Chinese newspaper world. The proprietors of five dailies havi either left Peking or have sought refug< in the Legation quarter, whili none of the numerous Chinese newi agencies dared report the continued de tentioii oi another Chinese editor, ar rested on August 7, on an unknowi charge. As one foreign newspaper here re marks, "For the moment, the sword i mightier than the pen, in the capital.'
