LEAGUE FOOTBALL.
MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE MEETS. COMPLAINT OF REFEREES' ASSOCIATION. Alleging that in several matters recently the Referees' Association had not been given the consideration due to it by the management committee of the A.R.L., the association, in a letter received at last night's meeting, notified the withdrawal of its delegate, Mr. W. Mincham, from the management committee. The letter was quite unexpected, and Mr. TV. Davidson at once said that the matter was too serious to be treated lightly. In the best interests of the game a deputation from the AJLL. should wait upon the association, when any grievances could be gone into. Mr. Hammill expressed the opinion that the referees were particularly well treated in the League code, and he regretted the attitude of the association. Mr. Adamson said that if the referees took any drastic action the junior games would be seriously affected. Eventually it was decided that Messrs. Hammill, Culpan, Davidson and Feildinc wait upon the Referees' Association on Monday next. A letter was received from the Lower Waikato League asking for particulars of a junior team which was to play at Ngaruawahia on August 21. The matter -was referred to the junior management committee to arrange to send a team on a date to be arranged. The Waimari Club, Christchurch, wrote stating that arrangements were beinw made to provide accommodation and keep the club's junior team together when it visited Auckland, and thanked the committee for the offer to billet the boys. It was decided to suggest August 28 as a suitable date for the match, as on that date the Canterbury v. Auckland match would be played. Otago v. Auckland. In connection with the Otago t. Auckland match on Saturday next, J. O'Brien (Marists) and J. Clarke (Newton) have notified the selectors they will not be available. The selectors have added C. Hargreaves (Newton) and J. Stormont (Marists) to the number from which the final selection will be made this evening.
