THE PRICE OF GAS.
(Received 11 a.m.) SYDNEY, this day. Owing to increasing expenditure as a result of the Workers' Compensation Act and the increase in the cost of coal, the price of gas will be raised from July 17 by a penny to 5/8 per 1000 cubic feet.
SHIPPING FREIGHTS.
SYDNEY, July 9. Owing to the incidence of the Workers' Compensation Act it is announced that the coastal freight rates will be increased from to-day.—(A. and N.Z.)
