THE NATIONAL PARK.
FOREIGN PLANTS AND BIRDS.
OPPOSITION TO INTRODUCTION.
(By Telegraph.—Preas Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. The standing committee of the New Zealand Institute has passed resolutions against the encouragement of any foreign plant or animal in the Tongariro National Park, especially game birds and animals which would interfere with the natural fauna or flora. The Institute strongly opposes the leasing of any part of the park to private individuals, or the milling of the timber in the park, and suggests that Acclimatisation Societirs should not be allowed to liberate imported animals or plants anywhere near it.
