•THE IURNIXG TIDE
. Sir Oliver Lodsje has a vision of a Paradise oil ear tn, which come of the younger people of the present generation may live to sec, and he mentioned it at a "meeting of men at Whitetield's Tabernacle, when lie spoke of the "Problems of Existence." , In that day, said Sir Oliver, humanity Would not quarrel, but would set to work to help each other, and the worJd would be beautiful again. He had been impressed in several ways of late with the belief that we were turning the tide and that important things were seriously going to improve. /The war and the recent industrial upheaval had tested us. "We are not jfet out ofHhe wood, but we are beginning to see daylight," eaid Sir Oliver. * Existence itself was a great mystery. \Ve were just carrying on in our day and generation what he felt to be a long-thoUgh-oitt plan and design. What were the plan and design? The material universe he found to he a recurrent thing. He found energy passing through matter to ether and liadv asra ; n Continuously. They saw wcf-lds coming into existence in the birth 61 stare. What were all the worlds fort What was this great planet we lived on fort "Do-not think it is an end in itself," h% counselled. "These great masses of matter we see in the Universe are instruments, machines with some objective. The physical world revolves, re peats, recurs; the psychic world progresses, advances towards something nobler and better, constantly improving. That is evolution. "From this great loom bf God's universe progresses the soul of humanity and Of countless other beings of other Worlds, of whom at present we know nothing! Scientifically we cannot say that they are inhabited, but we may feel sure they are in some form or another— perhaps by beings much higher or lower than ourselves. "There is no limit to the destiny in store for each individual. Be not afraid of your destiny. Welcome it. The human race lias hot been long in existence on this planet. Astronomers think this was about 1000 millions of years old. and- it may have hundreds of mil* lions of veare of life. vet.
