TOTI DAL MONTE CONCERTS. ' The jrreat sncee.-s achieved fry the J Melba Grand Opera Company in Australia was due to a veiy large extent to the magnilicent singing, acting and charming personality of Signorina Toti Ual Monte, and music lovers and playgoers generally will doubtless be pleased to know that Messrs. J. and X. Tait are to give the public of Auckland an opportunity of hearing this artist at the Town Hall on Saturday, Monday. Wednesday and Thursday, July 24. 20, 28 and Dal Monte's achievements at the Chicago Auditorium and the Metropolitan Opera House, Xew York, and later at Covcnt Garden and the Royal Albert Hall, are now matters of musical history. On her return to Australia recently a≤ a concert artist, the huge Town Hall.'Melbourne, was booked out. and when the famous singer made her appearance on the platform she was received by thunders of applause from all parts of the building. The following was written by a well-known Australian critic: —"Toti Dal Monte proved herself even more delicious than ever. The flexibility of her magnificent voice, its sweetness aud purity, its unerring accuracy are even better revealed than when she last sang to us, especially in the Italian operatic arias, to which she takes and gives th? greatest pleasure. On Saturday night her conquest was complete. She sang and the charming quality of her voice was comparable only to the sheer perfection of a diamond cut by a master lapidaTy. Indeed it had all the facets and moods of a perfect jewel. She was in perfect voice, wonderfully clear and trillinjr, and when after the unrestrained enthusiasm evoked by her opening numbers., with naive pride she gave as encores several charming songs in English, all of which were received with the greatest enthusiasm.* , Dal Monte's present tour must necessarily be brief, therefore only four concerts can be presented in Auckland. Associated with Toti Dal Monte will be Angiisio Beul, the celebrated baritone, William James, the brilliant pianist, and Stanley Baines, the famous flautist. Although music lovers of Sydney and Melbourne were called upon to pay 23/ for reserved seats in Sydney and" Melbourne, the prices for the New Zealand ; tour will not be so high.
