FAITH HEALING.
" WAR BREAD" STORY.
LONDON, July S. An extraordinary example, of faithhealing on a large scale was revealed by Sir William B. Hardy, secretary of the Royal Society, in his presidential address at the annual congress of the Royal Sanitary Institute. Sir William gave an account of an experiment which was carried out at a munition factory in the war period in order to test the value of "war bread." He said the bread used throughout the ; experiment was intentionally "war bread" in its worst form. All the ingredients were samples of the worst kind available. Owing to a mistake in the wording of the instructions to doctors the impression was conveyed that the test was being carried out with pure wheaten flour. All the men and women concerned believed they had eaten pure "peace bread." "What was the result?" asked the speaker. "They thoroughly enjoyed the bread and reported enthusiastically upon it. The general health and the wellbeing of all concerned in the experiment were considerably improved and the maladies from which they had suffered as a result of eating 'war bread' disappeared entirely."—(A. and N.Z.)
