EIGHT DAYS' FREEDOM.
ESCAPEE RECAPTURED.
(By Telegraph—Press Association.) . INVERCARGILL, Thursday. William Howell, the youthful inmate of the Borstal Institute who escaped on June 30, was recaptured to-day at a bush siding 20 miles from Invercargill, on the Waimahaka line. Acting on information received, Sergeant Hewitt and a constable had no difficulty in locating Howell, who offered no resistance. He was wearing a suit of old clothes when arrested. Howell had been camping by day and travelling by night.
