TRAMWAYS MOTOR CAR.
USE BY CHAIRMAN
INQUIRY TO BE MADE
On the motion of Mr. F. W. Brinsden, the Auckland City Council last night set up a special committee to inquire into the use of a tramway motor car n=ed by the chairman of the Tramways Committee, Mr. A. Thompson, and to report to the council. In moving the motion, Mr. lirinsden said that he wanted to know why the chairman of the Tramways Committee had a special car sent to bring him clown every morninz while the remaining members of the council had passe? on the trams and used them. Mr Thompson, in reply, said that, as far as he was personally concerned, he had nothing whatsoever to fear. For every five minutes he used the tramway department's motor car, he gave the council up to one and a-half hours of his time. He would be glad to have a committee inquire into the matter. Mr. G. Knight expressed the opinion that economy should be shown just as much in the use of time as in the expenditure of money.
