WAIKATO HUNT.
PURCHASE OF IMPORTED STALLION.
IMPROVEMENT OF HUNTERS
(From Our Own Correspondent.) CAMBRIDGE, Thursday. At the annual meeting of the Waikato Hunt, held earlier in the year, it was unanimously decided to import a first-class stallion from England, with the object of improving the standard of hunters in the Waikato. Mr. Hassall, well-known horse-breeder, of Hawke's Bay, who is on a visit to the Old Country, was commissioned to purchase a suitable animal, and yesterday the secretary of the hunt (Mr. C. Meredith) received cable advice that Mr. Hassall had been successful in his mission, and had purchased on behalf of the hunt, the splendid thoroughbred stallion "Little England," which Mr. Hassall thinks will exactly suit the purposes for -which he is required. Little England will be shipped from Ensland on July 2S. hy the Ruahine, and should reach New Zealand about the end of August. The staliion will be stationed on the hunt's property at Bruntwond. The hunt is to be congratulated on its enterprise, which should be of great value in maintaining and improving the Standard of hunters in the Waikato.
