GRAFTON DRAMATIC CLUB.
ENTERTAINMENT AT LEYS INSTITUTE.
There were few vacant seats in the Leys Institute Hall last evening for tie presentation by the Grafton Shakespeare and Dramatic Club of "Mr. Pirn Passes By," the well-known three-act comedy by A. A. Milne. The artists, all of whom gave a clever and capable impersonation of their respective role?, reached a high standard that ■was net lost ■on the large attendance. Well known in its theme, "Mr. Pirn Passes By" was a play which gave the members a suitable vehicle in which to display their undoubted abilities. Mr. W. H. Graham, as Carraway Pirn, the absent-minded friend of the Mardens, Mr. E. Blair and Mrs. Frank Turner -were exceptionally good, while the latter gave impersonations that were a delightful character study. Miss Rosie Kidson, as Dinah, was wholly admirable, while Mrs. E. Pilkington, as" Lady Marden, Mr. Rex Fairburn. as Brian Strange, and Miss L. Palethorpc, as Anne, in a lesser degree added considerably to the success of this extremely subtle and humorous comedy. The three acts went through without a hitch, and the fall of the curtain was the signal for a renewal of the applause that had followed the artists U'-oughout. The general verdict was diat there had never been a more thoroughly enjoyable performance at the Institute.
