A CLEVER BURGLAR.
CAU&HT BY A FLUKE. THREE YEARS IN GAOL. (By Telegraph.—Special to "Star.") CHRISTCHURCH, this day. Sentence of three years was imposed at the Supreme Court to-day on Joseph John McClintock, who broke into the liouse of Mr. H. Rushworth at Shirley and was attacked by Mr. Rushworth's eon in sensational circumstances. The Crown prosecutor said that McClintock was considered one of the cleverest burglars about here. It was only by a fluke that he was caught. His Honor said that the prisoner had been lh'ing dishonestly for some time, and the record he had was such that he could not grant prisoner's request for reformative treatment. He warned him that he was qualifying to be declared an habitual criminal.
