SCHOOL FOR PENROSE.
REQUEST BY RESIDENTS.
A deputation from the Penrose Katepayers' Association asked the Auckland Education Board to-day to establish a school near the Penrose station.
The site suggested had an area of 4J acres, and was situated in Station Road between the railway ramp and Wall Road. In support of the request, the deputation submitted that there were ISO children of school age within half a mile radius of the site mentioned. Of these. 70 were attending Te Papapa School, and 42 Ellerslie School. The site was over l>, miles from Tc Papapa School. The" deputation thought the school should have been at Penrose, instead of at Tc Papapa. Mr. A. Burns (chairman): The advisory inspector has been out to Penrose and seen several site?. Te Papapa School is needed where it stands. »c have to make additions there at the present time. It was decided that the advisory inspector visit Penrose and confer wltn representatives of the Ratepayers' Association, with a view to making a recommendation to the Education Department.
