KILLED BY TRACTOR.
A PLOUGHMAN'S DEATH. FATALITY NEAR WANGANUI. (By Telegraph.—Special to "Star.") WANGANUI, this day. While engaged in drain ploughing on Mr. J. Campion's station at Kaiangaroa, near Fordell, yesterday afternoon, a returned soldier named George Knowles, the head ploughman on the station, was killed.
The tractor which deceased was driviii2 vaulted backwards when crossing a ditch, threw Knowles to the ground, and fell on him, crushing his chest.
An assistant and some neighbours lost no time in extricating Knowles, but life was extinct, death having been practically instantaneous. Deceased, a single man. had been engc'.sed on the farm for fifteen months.
