» BLAME THE REPORTERS ! A CASE IX CHRISTCHUECH. (Bj Telegraph—Special to "Star.") GHRISTCHURCH. this day. Criticism of the selectors at a meeting of the Canterbury Rugby Union on Jmie 22 led to a protest by the selectors, and when-this protest came before the union a suggestion was made that the remarks of the union members at the meeting on June 22 luid been incorreel'.y reported. The union last night had hefore it a letter from the president of the Christchurch Journalists' Association, protesting again<t the action of some members of the union in attempting to attribute misreporting to the three journalists who reported the meeting. The association, the letter stated, looked upon the remarks as a reflection upon the professional ability of the journalists concerned. The chairman. Mr. MePhail. said the remarks passed at the meeting were correctly reported. Mr. Malone: A lot of members make remarks, and when they see them in cold print next morning they are very surprised. A resolution was carried that the union had no intention or" reflecting upon the professional ability of the reporters, and h#d every confidence in the jotirnalists who attended the union meetings.
