ONE BIG COLLEGE.
I VALUE OF UNITY. NEW HIGH SCHOOL OPENED. j ■ ' \ (Vγ Telrsrnph.— rress A^so^iarinn.i XAPIEr. Sunday. The new Xapicr Boys" High >rlv>ol, ! comprising a tine block of builui:;jrs. which lias been envtod at a cost of £80,000, and which embraces all the most modern features of school architecture and equipment, was officially opened yesterday by the Minister of Education, Hon. R. A. Wright, before a large assemblage of people. Subsequently the Minister was entertained at dinner. The Minister made a suggestion to the people of Hawke'o Bay in regard to the j use of the money from the Howard be I quest for agricultural education. He i asked the people to consider the ques- [ tion of associating the money fr''m the i estate with one lame agricultural colI lege. instead of a number of small institutions all over the place. The Minister explained that this was not to absorb the money or neglect Hawke's Bay. '"We already have Auckland and Wellington pulling together, and we are now trying to get others in and make one good college. As it i 3 now, the money from the Howard bequest is accurruiatinjr, and you are getting no benefit. It is purely a matter for the Hawke's Bay people. Let mc reiterate that there is no desire to absorb the money from the estate. We could not expect that. I can see, however, the advantages of a united effort. If we can set Hawke's Bay in we will have a very fine affair." j ! _______ !
