I The banks have not troubled themselves much about us in the past, and our bad times have been their good times. Now that agricultural banking is becoming mure than a vision, the Bank of New | . Zealand product's a scheme which, on the -■■rta.ee, is intended to benefit us. but, , ! like a sudden >'ackcning in a tug;-of- ! i war. is really intended to put farmers J on ;l.r backs. The mere fact that those' i are being put forward just ! now, and nut five, or ten. or even twenty years ago, should be enough to condemn the scheme. Why i-: it so late'; Why not a little later': Another remarkable , point is the steady rise in Bank of New j Zealand shares during the past few ■ weeks. Only au idiot would believe that ; the proposals represent any real dopriva- : tion or have any tendency to restrict ] dividend?, when the share barometer sa j clearly indicates the revers<2 —I am. etc., j H.
