Spurious coins are again circulating in Auckland. To-day a bad half-crown was brought to the "Star" office for inspection. It is a passable imitation in , appearance, but has the undoubted sound iof the "dud' , when thrown on a- counter. ' Still, it could easily be accepted as J genuine if not "rung."' especially at j night. Peculiarly enough, a <rirl from a business establishment refused to accept just such a coin morning— from a bank, ni all places' The presence of a large number or sharks in the Whangarei Harbour t≤ reported by local fishermen. This is affecting the quantity of Ssh caught, as well is causing annoyance in the ! loss of lines and damage to nets.
