RUMOURED TRAIN SMASH.
A FALSE REPORT. NO ACCIDENT AT LEVIN. A report that a serious railway acadent had occurred in Levin gained wide circulation in the city to-day and caused considerable alarm, but there is no truth in the report. The Railway Department officials here know nothing of any sucn occurrence, and there is no mention of anything of the kind in our Press telegrams. An inquiry this afternoon at Levin completely discredited the rumour. The report appears to have originated in a remark made over a cup of tea by an employee of a commercial firm, and after careful inquiry we have come to the conclusion that there is no truth in the rumour.
