This steamer is scheduled to leave Sydney for Auckland on Friday of the present week, being due to arrive here next Tuesday. THE DEVON. . Now at Wellington, the Federal Line steamer Devon is to leave there at daybreak on'-Thursday for Napier 1 , Waikokopu, Gisborne and Auckland for final loading. Movements of vessels under the flag of the Union Company arc announced as follow :— The Waiuul is to sail for East Coast ports at 5 p.m. to-day. The Kalmanawa is expected to arrive at . The Isabella de Frame was to sail for Hokianga this afternoon. The Gisborne Sheep Farmers' steamer Tiroa was to sail for East Coast this afternoon. THE NGAKUTA. A projected departure from Auckland on Thursday evening is the Dnion Co.'s Ngakuta for Rarotonga. Atiu. Mauke. and Aitutaki. This steamer left Wellington last evening. THE HORORATA. At present completing her cargo at the Queen's wharf, the N.Z. Shipping Co.'s steamer Hororata is announced to sail for London on Thursday. THE WEST CONOB. In continuation of her voyage from Pacific Coast ports, the Swayne and Hoyt Line steamer West Conob is expected to leave Auckland about Friday for Wellington, Lyttelton and Dunedln. THE CITY OF WINCHESTER. Bound for London, via Cape Horn, the Shaw, Savin and Albion Co.'s chartered steamer City of Winchester is announced to sail from Auckland at 0.30 a.m. on Thursday. She is completing her cargo at the Central wharf. FANTOME AS A HULK. Having been purchased by the Union S.S. Company for use as a hulk at Devonport, Tasmania, the old surveying ship Fantome, which was replaced on the Australian station by H.M.s. Herald, is at present being stripped at Sydney. THE RUAHINE. For further loading for London, the N.Z. Shipping Co.'s liner" Ruahine is to leave Auckland to-morrow evening for Tokomaru Bay. Napier, Lyttelton and Wellington. She is to sail finally from Wellington for Southampton and London on July 17. i I THE AYMERIC. Messrs. Henderson and Macfarlane advise that the steamer Aymeric. which is discharging Ocean Island phosphate at the King's wharf, is to sail on Friday tor Westport for bunkers. Later she will proceed to Nauru Island to load another phosphate cargo. LEPANTO REPORTS. According to a radio report received by the N.Z. Shipping Co. this morning, the steamer Lepanto will arrive at Auckland from New York at midday on Thursday. She will unload the local portion of her general cargo at the Prince's wharf, and will then proceed to Wellington. Lyttelton, Timaru, Dunedin and Bluff to put out the balance. i RECORD OCEAN TOW. When she arrives at Sydney, at any time now, the Sydney Harbour Trust's new rockbreaker, which is being towed from England by the Dutch tug Donan, will have covered over 13,000 miles. This is regarded as a record tow. The rockbreaker and the tug put into Townsville recently, and the tugmaster reported a stormy voyage. On one occasion in the Bay of Biscay the rockbreaker broke adrift, and was only picked up again with difficulty. MAUNGANUI AT SYDNEY. | A cablegram from Sydney announces the [ arrival at that port at 6 o'clock this morning of the Union Company's steamer Maunganui from Auckland. She sailed hence on Friday afternoon. This steamer will make one more trip in the intercolonial service, leaving for Wellington on j Thursday, and returning to Sydney on July 10. Five days later she will leave Sydney for San Francisco, via Wellington and the usual Island ports, relieving the R.M.s. Makura for overhaul. ORESTES' MAIDEN VOYAGE. Advice has been received by the Sydney agents for Holt's Blue Funnel 'Line that the ' new motor ship Orestes will make her maiden voyage to Australian ports. The Orestes, which was ordered to take the place of the vessel of the same name that was sold some time ago. was launched from the yards of Workman. Clark and Co.. Belfast, only on-April 14. She is a vessel of the most modern type, having cargo snace for 10.000 tons of general merchandise, and an economical cruisiu™ speed of I 13 knots, being able to make 17 knots if j necessary. The new motor shin will travel by way of the Cape of Good Hope, and it is predicted that she will go close to breaking the record fast passage, which is about 34 days. A WORLD TOUR. I A world tour, with Melbourne as a starting point, has been arranged by the Burns, Philp Line. The time-table has not yet been arranged, but the details of the Itinerary have been fixed. Travellers will leave Melbourne for Batavia and Singapore by a Burns. Philp Line steamer, and at Singapore a P. and 0. Line vessel will carry the party to Colombo, rhrough the Suez danal. to London The voyage from (ireat Britain to America will be made in a White Star or Cunard liner, and. after the American continent has been crossed, a CanadianAustralian Line steamer will bring passengers to Melbourne by way of Honolulu, Suva, and New Zealand. The tonr is expected to occupy about five months, and will probably commence in March next. NOTICE TO MARINERS. Information received from the Oamaru Harbour Board states that two new lighted leading beacons, situated 200 feet westward of the old beacons, which are to be removed, have been installed and ar e now in operation. Both beacons are diamond shaped, black and white chequered in colour, and are 135 feet apart From tie centre of tbe front beacon at a height of 00 feet will be exhibited one fixed white light. From the centre of the rear beacon at a height of 120 feet will be exhibited ■one fixed green light The front and rear beacons, in transit 213°, clear the spit at the breakwater end by 120 feet and the south-east corner of Holmes wharf by 140 feet. Both lights are visible from 16S° through south, to 25S°, and have a range of visibility of three miles.
