PATRIOTIC FUNDS.
(To the Editor.} Sir,—l was glad to see the matter ! i Patriotic Association taken up by I. Butterworth in *■'*• recent issue of your paper. Some • .time ago I asked the same question, but -. li'bo answer has been forthcoming. I also •; r asked the total weekly expenditure in ""'salaries and rents. My contention is that the whole of the staff should he returned soldiers, and I think the time is opportune, with so many on the unemployment roll of the Returned Soldiers' Association, to make the change. I am sure Mr. Sharp has suit- . able men on his books to fill these jobs. It is /high time this matter was taken up "seriously and a statement given to the public; who subscribed the funds, showing that every endeavour is being made to curtail expenditure in so far as administrative charges are concerned. If it is necessary to have such a big staff, which, personally, I don't see the reason for, then let every one of them be returned soldiers. —I am, etc., TWELVE BAR.
