TO CORRESPONDENTS.
APPRENTlCE.—Apprentices are entitled to full wages- from : their employers -while in military training camps. CARP IX A BOWL.—A correspondent who has some carp in a bowl asks whether they should be "-given any food; and whether filtered chlorinated water such as that supplied by the One Tree Hill Board would ,be lacking in food and. whether it would he harmful. Opinions differ as to feding these and similar fish kept in captivity. A person who had much success never pave any food whatever, but. -was careful to change the water every day —this being imperative. At one time he used to "rive a few bread crumbs occasionally, but later understood it was not suitable, and gave it up. As far as we are aware the point about chlorinated water has not previously arisen. An expert to whom the question was referred advocated using water that had not been chlorinated, such as spring-water or rainwater. An interesting experiment would be to keep one fish in a separate bowl in the' chlorinated water, ani note how it compares with the fish kept in unchlorinated water.
