ROGERS BEATS RING. AUSTRALIAN PUNISHED. (Received 1 p.m.) LONDON, June 20. In a scheduled fifteen-round bout Albert Rogers (12.03) beat Charlie Ring (11.9). It was a rough fight throughout. There was a good deal of holding, and in the fifth round Rogers was warned for butting with his head. . The Englishman took the lead from the start, and in the second round sent Ring down with a smashing right hook for the count of seven. On rising Ring met a shower of blows. His right eve was badly cut and he bled. During the remainder of the fight Rogers continued to have the better of matters.

The Australian was badly battered, but_ fought with the utmost gameness until the towel was thrown in the eighth round.— (Reuter.)
