F. J. CASET'S POPULAR VICTORY.

The Manukan Cycle Club held its first i race on Saturday afternoon over the new i Mangere course. This proved highly satis- , factory to the riders, who all managed to do the seventeen miles in good time. This was done in spite of a very strong head wind, -which hindered the riders considerably. E. Andrews, off the 6min. mark, rode a very creditable race, well above his usual standard, gaining the verdict by a length from F. W. Jeeves. W. B. Worbovs gained third place. These two riders have just j recently taken up cycling, and have already shown themselves capable of good performances in the future. E Andrews, 6m 1 j T. W. Jeeves. 5m 45e 2 W. B. Worboys, 5m 45s 3 Time, 51m 31Js Fastest time fell to F. J. Casey. \rho| rode strongly throughout. His win was j very popular among the riders. Kis time . 46m 365, is an excellent performance, and i clearly shows that Casey is undoubtedly! among the best road riders in New Zealand.! L. Wilson, who rode so well last week in the 20 miles road race, securer! second, fastest time, viz., 47m 7s.' W. Bray an-, neted . third fastest, in 47m 38s. Wilson: and Bray rods well-judged races and fully i deserve credit /or tieir performances. I Throughout the road racing season they j have ridden consistently, and should ever come to the fore more as the season progresses.

Next Saturday .the club intends holding i another road race over the same course. 1 This, being a 10-mile event, twice around the course, should attract a number of riders, who ac yet do not feel capable to attack the luiigei journejo.
