DRUGS STOLEN FROM CHEMIST'S.

A DRUG ADDICT ARRESTED. !

REMANDED AT POLICE COURT

On Saturday the premises of the Auckland Pharmacies, Ltd., in Queen Street, wore broken into, when a quantity of drugs were stolen. As a result of inquiries niade, George Edward Barker (23) was yesterday arrested by Detective McWbirter.

Barker appeared at the Police Court this morning, charged with stealing a

quantity of heroin, cocaine and morphia, of a total value of £2 10/. the property of Baldwin Gunther Sanft.

In asking for a remand until June 2S. Senior Detective Hammond said that Barker was a well-known drug addict.

Mr. Poynton: Oh, yes, I remember him He's been up here before.

Senior Detective Hammond: Yes, on a manslaughter charge. By his present appearance, he looks as if he has had a bad dose of drugs this time.

Accused, who looked pale and ill, was remanded until June 2S.
