DANISH AND NEW ZEALAND.

TRICE OF BUTTER.

LONDON, June 10.

A feature of the London butter market in the past week was that Danish solJ at the same price as Australian and 2/ to 4/ below New Zealand butter.

This is one of the. effects of the coal itrike, and the consequent trade depression in the Midlands and in the North of England, which is the principal market for Danish butter, the production of which is now very large.

Germany is now taking practically no Danish butter, so the whole export is being sent to Britain. The low price of Danish quickly attracted buyers, and much was bought for storage, with the result that the price recovered to 176/ to ITS/. This is about on a parity with New Zealand butter, Australian being 172/ to 176/.—(A. and N.Z.)
