LORD CARNARVON'S DEATH.
POISON FROM TUTS TOMB. NEW Y"ORK, June IS. Dr. Frederick Cowles, Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society, who recently arrived from Egypt, says the Earl of. Carnarvon's death has been traced directly to a poison coating upon Tut-ankh-amen's casket and the illness of a number of others who were engaged in the excavation of the tomb has also been traced to the same source. The poison coating on the casket had crumpled into dust, but evidently had not lost any of its strength. He added that this poison, like the gold furniture in the tomb, was made by the ancient Egyptians and far surpasses anything produced by modern civilisation. — (Sydney "Sim.").
