Mr. H. E. GillesDie left on a business visit to tlie Islands by the Tofua to-day. Mr. J. G. L. Hewitt, S.M., chairman of the Railway Appeal Board, left for the South by the Limited last evening. Sir Edwin Mitchelson, who -was knocked down by a motor car when attending the opening of Parliament in Wellington on Thursday, is reported as making a good recovery, his injuries, fortunately, consisting only of shock and a few bruises. Well-known members of the Taupo community were farewelled at a gathering of settlers on Thursday evening and presented with parting gifts They were Mr. and Mrs. J. Everett, of the Terrace Hotel, who are leaving for England, and Mr. Haywoo*, ranger at Taupo, who is leaving to take another position at Rotorua. Mr. J. Parter (Wellington), Mr. and Mrs. Montague (Hamilton). Dr. and Mrs. Dean (Otorohanga). Mr. G N. Hay (Dargaville), Mr. G. Wansbone (Dargaville), Mr. and Mrs. G. Brodie (New Plymouth) are at the Star Hotel. Central Hotel guests include Mr. ,T. R. Ferguson (Napier). Mr. H. B. Colgan (Sydney), Mr. Wilfred Johnstone (Te Kuiti), Mr. H. V. Cooney (Te Puke), Mr. B. Shand (Wellington), Mr. H. G. Coburn, Mr. A. E. Lindsav, Mr. .T. Kinsey (Christchurch), Mr. Edwin Harding (Dargaville).
