EMPHATIC PROTEST
WELLINGTON COUNCIL APPOINTMENTS.
At a full meeting of the execulixe of the New Zealand Natives' Association held last evening the following resolution was carried unanimously: "Unit this meeting of the executhe of the New. Zealand Native.-,' Association views with concern the appointments by the Wellington City Council of a town clerk and a city engineer from England, and emphatically "protests against such appointments as being a direct relict urn upon the al.ilitv of New Zealand,r., and residents of New Zealand; we also consider that such uncalled for action by tlie Wellington Coi.mil and oilier municipalities tend to drive the brightest brains out of the Dominion; further, Je pledge ourselves to use all our influence to frustrate all such outside appointments in the future; this resolution to be forwarded to the Wellington City Council."
