A progressive increase litis been noticed I in the cost of the city lighting, and it | was staled by the Mayor (Mr. C<. Baildon) on Wednesday thai, when the; new lighting system was completed, the i annual cost would lie about £-Mi.ot)ll. and the illumination provided would lie immeasurably greater than that of the' old gas lighting. | Tiie Mayor quoted the cost of the gas lighting a- over £!iimo a year.
