THE CHILDEN'S COURT.

MR. C. M. CARTER TO PRESIDE

Mr. Charles M. Carter, of Auckland, has been appointed the second associate to sit with Mr. E. C-Cutten, S.M., at lite Children's Court. The appointment dates from June 30, so that on the first Children's Court day next month, the bench will be occupied by Mr. E. C. Cutten, S.M:, Mrs. N. E. Ferner, and Air. C. M. Carter.

Particularly well qualified for the post, Mr. Carter has had wide experience as a teacher, and has taken a keen interest in the number of welfare organisations for children. He became a teacher in 1880, and held positions at Mercury Bay, Mangere and Pukekohe He was then appointed first assistant at Beresford Street School, and later, headmaster at Napier Street. He held the position o* headmaster there for 27 years, and during that time was a president of the Auckland Headmasters' Association.

Mr. Carter's interest in the welfare of children kept him in close association with the work of the Manurewa Children's Home, the Sunday School Union, Young Citizens' League,, (of which he is at present honorary secretary), and the Navy League.
