TROTTING.

WHEEL AND TRACK NOTES. - (By OKION.) FIXTURES. June 19, 23—Auckland T.C. Winter. His Pal, which lias won a 6mall race since coming across to the Dominion from Australia, recently got caught in. a wire fence, and received injuries which will keep him off the race track for a time. As a result of their wins at the Ashburton nie&ting Trampfast has been rebandicaped at 60yds in the Winter Handicap, and Sea Pearl at 48yds in the Marconi Handicap, to be decided at the Auckland Trotting Club's meeting on Saturday. The old favourite Man-o'-war made his reappearance at Ashburton after being off-the scene for some time. The son of l 3 eri Huon did. not manage to get in the money, but with the limit in the New Zealand Cup tightened his owner will probably be encouraged to keep the horse going. That good pacej Imprint has arrived at Epsom under the care of F. L. Berkett, who has also brought Marshal Neil up for the meeting. Imprint has not raced for some time, and it ie just possible, although he looks well, that he may be in want of racing to put him right for November, when the New Zealand Trotting Cup is to be decided. The Auckland sportsman Mr. G. McMillan did not have to wait long before getting a return from Sea Psarl. Just over a week ago he purchased the four-year-old daughter of Nelson Bingen and Pearlchild from Mr. H. F. Nicol, and as she captured the County Handicap for her new owner on Saturday he appears to have made a good transaction. The result of the Sapling Stakes at Ashburton on Saturday was a complete triumph for the young American sire Rey De Oro. His stock were making their first appearance, and in filling three of the four leading places they gave their sire a great advertisement Richore is out of Lady Superior, and is therefore & half-brother to ihe useful Cardinal Logan. The- appearance of Waikaha in the acceptances for Saturday at Epsom -will add interest to the Stewards' Handicap, in •'■ which some smart straight out trotters are engaged. Waikaha has an attractive record down against him up to the present, but on Saturday he will be meeting much stronger opposition and will want to be a good one if he is to continue his run of successes. The victory of Trampfast in the Longbeach Handicap'at Ashburton on Saturday completed the hat trick for him, and it.-would appear that ha is a bit above the ordinary,. To give away 84yds in a mile aird a -half and win takes some doing these times, and he must have had a good thing on in being on 36yds in a 4.58 class-at Epsom on Saturday. Of course hig win at Ashburton makes him liable'to be rehandicapped. ;Tie continued wet weather being experienced In Auckland hae ' not "at nil favoured local trainers who are getting horses ready for the winter meeting of the Auckland Trotting .Club, which opens at Epsom on Saturday. For weeks past there has been 60 little fine weather that trainers have had very few opportunities of speeding their horses up, and it would seem that tha visiting horses,.having the benefit of recent racingin the South, will be at a. big advantage over the local brigade. ' Patrol stewards are a very useful asset at meetings held under the rules of trotting, and they have been used with great advantaige by more than one racing club. Apparently their value has been impressed on leading officials" of the Racing Conference, as the delegates will be asked next month to sanction j the sending of the following recommendation to all clubs: "The conference recommends the stewards or committee of each club to appoint patrols, who need not necessarily be members of the club, and such patrols shall- watch the races from different parts of the course and report to the stewards cr the Judicial Committee at ths end of each race the result of their observations, before the order is given directing the totalisator dividends to be paid- Patrol stewards shall not adjudicate" on any matter upon which they have tendered evidence. <
