THE ORPHANS' CLUB.
At the gathering of the Auckland Orphans' Club on Saturday evening the vice-president (Mr. E. Casey) extended a cordial welcome to the official guests, representative, from tbe three orphans' eluba on the North Shore. Responses were made by Messrs. F. Gribbin (Devonport), A. M. Pickford (Birkenhead and Northcote), and E. C. Cutten, S.M. (Takapuna). The orchestra, under Mr. G. F. ( Cater, played the overture "Orpheijs in the Underworld" (Offenbach), and "The Tank Ride" (Lotter) for an encore, also the selection, "Tales of Hoffmann" (Offenbach), and "Washington Grays" (Grafula) as an encore. Songs were contributed by Messrs. T. Seaton, H. Harvey, H. Richards, E. Thomas, H. Valentine, and W.< G. Meredith; 'cello solos by Mr. R. Fawson; and humorous monologues by Mr. Alan McElwain. The accompanist was Mr. Cyril Towsey.
