XADrES' CHAMPIONSHIP. THE SEMI-FINAL HOUNDS. The semi-final rounds in the Auckland ladies' provincial championship werd played at the Middlemore links this morning. Miss M. Pay ton beat Mrs. Dufaur, 2 and 1, and Miss Culling boat Mrs. Deighton, 3 and 2. Til the match between Mis? Paytort and Mrs. Dufaur, the former was noti on her game going out, and her opponent! made a close game of it. Coming home, Miss Payton improved considerably and she returned the best card of the morn- , ing, doing the round in 82. Her carJ was: — Out: 5. 4, 5, 6, 5, 4. 3. 4, 7—43. Home: 4, 4, 4, 4. .1. 4, 5, 4. 5,—30. Miss Chilling, runner-up last year to Miss 0. Kay, also failed to start well, and Mrs. Deighton, too, was not at her, best on the outward journey. Butt coming back both ladies improved their game, and brought oIT some line drives.
